Below are some of Michael Jackson’s inspirational social-awareness notes, as well as live an broadcast messages sent to his admirers, supporters and the media throughout the years, in tune with his concerns and interests and also to dispel rumors and allegations made against him throughout his life: In 1987, an emotional handwritten message penned by the singer is publicized. He writes it in September, that year in his hotel room in Tokyo, Japan during his second leg of the Bad Tour. In it, Jackson pleads for tolerance and fair treatment on behalf of the misunderstood and vilified ones, in the absence of personally meeting them, including himself, simultaneously viewing the judgements (made against him) as an act of "survival". He continues on to express his affection and concerns for the world's children. The full letter reads: "Like the old Indian proverb says, do not judge a man until you've walked 2 moons in his moccosins (sic) . Most people don't know me, that is why they write such things in wich (sic) MOST is not true. I cry very very often because it hurts and I worry about the children, all my children all over the world, I live for them.", he writes. "If a man could say nothing against a character, but what he can prove, history could not be written. Animals strike, not from malice, but because they want to live, it is the same with those who criticize, they desire our blood, not our pain. But still I must achieve. I must seek truth in all things. I must endure for the power I was sent forth, for the world, for the children. But have mercy, for I've been bleeding a long time now", the singer adds. The letter was the result of him becoming very disturbed after his mother had kept him informed about what his PR-ists at the time kept from him and fail to refute: “upsetting” press stories of the singer. In her 1990 autobiography, "My Family, The Jacksons", Katherine Jackson recounts: “[…] Michael sounded surprised. “Mother, that’s not true,” he said. “I’m getting good press.” He said that he would send along copies of the articles that his public relations people had supplied. […] “Mother,” he said to me after one phone call too many, “it’s gotten to the point that when they tell me you’re on the phone, I don’t want to take the call, because I’m afraid that you’re going to have something else that’s negative to tell me. And it’s hard for me to work when I hear these things, because they bother me.” Unfortunately, the stories disturbed Michael to the degree that he wound up penning an open letter to the press from his Tokyo hotel room”. Katherine Jackson goes on to say that “Back in his hotel room, he personally passed judgment on every backstage pass and photo. He also quietly saw to it that free concert tickets were dispensed to handicapped youngsters.” In 1992, Michael Jackson leaves a radio message for his Japanese fans during his Dangerous World Tour, asking them to help him improve the world by identifying its issues and finding solutions for these issues. “I’m Michael Jackson, chairman of Heal The World Foundation. This is a special message to all of you listening to the Pon (?) Broadcasting System and Music Time.”, Jackson says. “I will be performing at the Tokyo Dome between December 12th to the 31st. I want to hear what you perceive to be the biggest problems in our world and the best solutions on how to solve them. Please, join me in healing the world and making it a better place to live in. I’m looking forward to meeting the winners at my concert at the Tokyo Dome. I love you all very much. Sayonara.” (posted by BadTourBirchey on YouTube) Michael Jackson's words after a concert from Wembley Stadium in London, U.K. was cancelled on August 1, 1992 on health grounds were: "It is the worst thing for me to let the fans down. Thank you for all your patience and grace yesterday." In December, 1992, Michael Jackson sends a videotaped Christmas message to his fans in United Kingdom. It says: “It is a real privilege for me to be able to have this opportunity, to send all my fans a message on what is a very important day. Today of all days, we focus on loving one another and giving. Let’s do this, not just one day of the year, but for 365 days. The Heal The World Foundation is now set up. Donations are invaluable. But just as important, let’s love one and other, let’s forget hatred and turn to those that are suffering. Not just today, but everyday. Join me in healing the world and make it a better place. Thank you.” In December, 1994, for ‘MJ Day Tribute’, an MTV special produced by Adrian Grant, he leaves the following videotaped message to his steadfast, loyal admirers throughout the world: “Hi. My name is Adrian Grant [smiles]. I would like to welcome you the 5th Annual MJ Day. We have lots of fun things planned and I hope you all have a wonderful wonderful time. [pauses and smiles] On a more serious note, I would like to thank all of the fans for their unwavering support over the past year. Please note, it was acknowledged and greatly appreciated. We are still in the studio, working on ‘HIStory’, and hopefully it will be available to you in early 1995. I love you all very very much. And I shall never ever forget you. I promise.”, states the entertainer.
On December 25, 1995, he leaves a videotaped Christmas message for the British music TV program “Top of the Pops” viewers, presenters and fans from his Neverland Ranch: “Hello, Top Of The Pops. Hello, and thank you for all your love, your support and your loyalty. I love you all so much, it has been a source of strength and inspiration. I wish you a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. I look forward to seeing you soon, and I love you all dearly. Thank you very much.”
In 1996, while in Paris, France, the artist leaves a videotaped message to the creators and readers of French magazine, 'Black Or White', dedicated to him: “Bonjour, ‘Black Or White’, it’s great to be in Paris and I love you all…Thank you so much for everything you’ve done. I love you and I’ll see you again… and, hopefully, soon. I love you very, very much. Thank you.” On November 1, 1996, before leaving Bombay, India, where he stays during his HIStory Tour there, Jackson leaves the following handwritten note on a pillow from his hotel room: "India, all my life I have longed to see your face. I met you and your people and fell in love with you. Now my heart is filled with sorrow and despair, for I have to leave you, but I promise I shall return to love you and caress you again. Your kindness has overwhelmed me, your spiritual awareness has overtaken and moved me, and your children have truly touched my heart. They are the face of God. I truly love and adore you, India. Forever. Continue to love, clean, and educate the children. The future shines in them. You are my special love, India. May God always bless you. Michael Jackson". Towards the end of 2003, a Michael Jackson official site, MJJ.source.com, was launched, and the singer leaves a videotaped message to mark its release, in which he states: “To My Fans, Friends and Media: Welcome to MJJsource.com, the official source for news and information regarding me and my projects. […] I am very excited about using MJJsource.com as a way to communicate with both my fans around the world, and the media. The theme of this web site is called, "A New Beginning." I have become disturbed and troubled as a result of people speaking on my behalf whom I do not know. For months, I have listened to reports that are inaccurate because they have been based on hearsay, and not fact. I have also listened, with amazement, to people who have misrepresented their relationships with me. I will use this site as one of the mediums for speaking out on my own behalf. In the coming weeks, you will find exclusive news, interviews and never before seen photos, right here on MJJsource.com. To my wonderful fans, thank you so much for your letters, thoughts, love and prayers. I love you more than you'll ever know. Thanks to all of you for your continued support! – Sincerely, Michael Jackson”. On November 24, 2003, in light of then recent allegations of misconduct made against Michael Jackson, he issues a statement for his fans, friends and family on his official website, in which he proclaims his innocence. The statement reads: “[…] As you know, the charges recently directed at me are terribly serious. They are, however, predicated on a big lie. This will be shown in court, and we will be able to put this horrible time behind us. Because the charges are so serious, I hope you all will understand, on the advice of my attorneys, I will be limited in what I can say about the situation. There will be times when I cannot comment at all. No doubt, this will be frustrating for all of us. For that reason, I have set up this website (MJJSource.com) to serve as a source of official communications on my case. Any statement that does not appear on this website must be considered unauthorized. You are right to be skeptical of some of the individuals who are being identified in the mass media as my friends, spokespeople, and attorneys. With few exceptions, most of them are simply filling a desperate void in our culture that equates visibility with insight. We will not engage in speculation. We will not provide running commentary on every new development or allegation du jour. We intend to try our case in the courtroom, not in the public or the media. I thank you all for your support and understanding. God bless you, Michael Jackson”
On April 30, 2004, Michael Jackson makes an open-air thank-you speech in Santa Maria, California, for his loyal admirers and supporters and the Santa Maria community. He declares: “I would like to thank the fans around the world – I would like to thank the fans around the world for your love and your support, from every corner of the earth, my family, who has been very supportive, my brother, Randy, who’s been incredible. I want to thank the community of Santa Maria, I want you to know that I – I love the community of Santa Maria very much, it’s my community, I love the people, I will always love the people; my children were born in this community, my home is in this community, I will always love this community from the bottom of my heart. That’s why I moved here. Thank you very much.” The following is a message by Michael Jackson issued at his court arraignment from April 30, 2004 in Santa Maria, California: “I wish to thank my family, my friends and my fans, who continue to support me during this difficult time. Thank you so much for your calls, your letters and your prayers. I have the best fans in the world, and I cannot express how much your support means to me. Thank you all for your love, faith and confidence. I want to thank the community of Santa Maria for your kindness and support. This community means a lot to me. It is the place of my home. My children were born here and many of my employees were born and raised here, and continue to live here. As I have repeatedly said, I am completely innocent of these false charges, and I am ready to fight for my innocence. I have complete confidence in my defense team, and believe that at the end of these legal proceedings, I will be fully exonerated by a jury of my peers. I plan on spending the rest of the day here with my family, and ask that you respect our privacy.” Following his arraignment, a personal typed message from the singer to his fans is published. It reads: "I love you all. I thank you for your love and support from around the world. I love my fans... you are my friends, very loyal to me. And thank you for everything you've done. I'm working on something very special at the moment. God bless you. I love you. Bye bye."
The following statement by Michael Jackson is released via his official website, MJJ Source, on June 17, 2004, regarding press leaks from unknown sources; moreover, he continues to proclaim his innocence of all the charges filed against him: “I respect the obligation of confidentiality imposed on all of the parties to the 1993 proceedings. Yet, someone has chosen to violate the confidentiality of those proceedings.”, the singer complains. “Whoever is now leaking this material is showing as much disrespect for the Santa Maria Court’s ‘gag order’ as they are a determination to attack me. No action or investigation has been taken to determine who is leaking this information or why they are permitted to violate the law in such a manner. I respectfully request that people see these efforts for what they are. These kinds of attacks and leaks seek to try the case in the press, rather than to a jury who will hear all of the evidence that will show that I did not, and would not, ever, harm a child”, he continues. “I have always maintained my innocence and vehemently denied that these events ever took place. I reluctantly chose to settle the false claims only to end the terrible publicity and to continue with my life and career. I ask all of my neighbors in Santa Maria, the people to whom I give my loyal trust and admiration, to keep an open mind and give me a chance to show that I am completely innocent of these charges. I will not let you down”, Jackson stated. On November 4, 2004, Jackson issues a message gratitude to his fans on his official website, for their support throughout the attempts of defamation made against him by means of the child abuse charges from December, 2003. The message states: “To my loyal fans and supporters, I would like to sincerely thank all those who have spoken out and taken action against the most recent attempt to defame me as a person and an entertainer. My team has told me of the thousands of calls that have been made and the thousands of emails that have been sent by you, on my behalf. I am so grateful and inspired by you all. To my fans in the UK, I want to you to know how touched I was to hear about the demonstration in London that took place on October 31st and the thousands of people that attended. I am so overwhelmed by these beautiful expressions of love from my fans. Thank you. Recently, I have been informed that there is an event being planned for me, by the fans, to take place in New York very soon. I wanted take this opportunity to thank these fans from the bottom of my heart for your love and support. As always, I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH AND THANK YOU FOR NOT BEING AFRAID TO SPEAK OUT. God Bless, Michael Jackson” On November 11, 2004, Michael Jackson phones Geraldo Rivera during a fan rally held in Time Square, New York City, in support of his innocence, and makes a statement for the fans, as well as for Rivera, as follows: “Well, Geraldo, it’s because of my fans that I’m calling you today. I mean, I feel they’re the best fans in the world, and I decided, rather than having anyone else speak for me that I would do it myself. You know?.. And I wanna thank my fans for their strong support over the years… They could’ve been anywhere today, you know, and they chose to be in New York on Time Square. And I wanna thank them from the bottom of my heart. They’ve written thousands and thousands of letters and have made hundreds of calls regarding the [offensive] Eminem video, (for ‘Just Lose It’). And I love them so so much. In London, over four thousand people showed up on my behalf and I wanna thank Reverend Jesse Jackson, Reverend Al Sharpton, Minister Farrakhan, The Source, Steve Harvey, Bob Johnson and BET, Cathy Hughes and Radio One and all the many others who have supported me, you know? And Geraldo, I wanna also thank you for your friendship and.. everything, all the wonderful things you’ve been doing, thank you so so much […] I’m always working on wonderful music and I’ve been working on several albums right now, I’ve been working on music today, I’m working on something as we speak, Geraldo, and I’m in the process of making plans to do some other wonderful things that I’ll be announcing to the fans very very soon. And I look forward to that, Geraldo, you know?.. […] I love my fans, I love – I love you and thank you so much for being there on my behalf and thank you, Geraldo again, thank you so so much.” On January 4, 2005, on behalf of his family and himself, Michael Jackson releases a statement concerning the 9.1 Mw undersea megathrust earthquake and tsunami disaster which occurred on December 26, 2004, affecting Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and Maldives and killing over 230,000 people from fourteen countries. “My family and I would like to send our prayers and heartfelt sympathy to the families, friends and loved ones of those who recently perished from the horrific earthquake and tsunami, which swept through Indonesia, Asia, India, Somalia and other countries”, Jackson declares. “Our love is also being sent to those who have miraculously survived this tragedy and to those who are so courageously on-site, helping to spearhead the relief efforts. We pray for your strength, your safety and the success of your life-saving missions of love. Words cannot adequately express the shock, horror and grief we've felt, while watching news reports which have captured the massive devastation and despair. It has been especially painful for me, as I have visited these areas many times and I remember the love, kindness and warmth of the people I met there”, he also declares. I would like to encourage all of my friends, and fans, to contribute to agencies and organizations assisting in these efforts. In times like these, we need each other... we must bond together in spirit and in service. God Bless. Sincerely, Michael Jackson”. On January 30, 2005, two months before his trial, Michael Jackson releases a video-taped statement via his official site to the media, his fans and his community from Santa Barbara, in order to once again refute the allegations made against him, stressing on the ordeal they caused to his family, children and himself: He states: “In the last few weeks, a large amount of ugly, malicious information has been released into the media about me. Apparently, this information was leaked through transcripts in a grand jury proceeding where neither my lawyers, nor I, ever appeared. The information is disgusting and false. Years ago, I allowed a family to visit and spend some time at Neverland. Neverland is my home. I allowed this family into my home because they told me their son was ill with cancer and needed my help. Through the years, I have helped thousands of children who were ill or in distress. These events have caused a nightmare for my family, my children and me. I never intend to place myself in so vulnerable a position again. I love my community and I have great faith in our justice system. Please keep an open mind and let me have my day in court. I deserve a fair trial like every other American citizen. I will be acquitted and vindicated when the truth is told.” On April 25, 2005, Michael Jackson releases a message for fans in Italy, participating at a rally in his support, during his 2005 trial, on his now defunct website, www.MJJsource.com. It reads: “To all my fans in Italy, […] I wish I could be there with you in beautiful Italy! I am certainly there with you in spirit. I have said it before, and I will say it again… I truly have the most amazing fans in the world. Thank you for your love, your prayers, your gifts and for all of your beautiful acts of kindness. I thank you for your support and for believing in me always… Remember, God, and the truth, are on our side and WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS. Myself, Prince, Paris and Blanket send you our love… Have fun and Keep Dancing. God bless you all! I LOVE YOU!!! […] - Michael Jackson" On June 26, 2005, thirteen days after his trial acquital in California, Michael Jackson releases a message to fans on his now defunct website, www.mjjjsource.com. The message reads: "Without God, my children, my family and you, my fans, I could not have made it through. Your love, support and loyalty made it all possible. You were there when I really needed you. I will never forget you. Your ever-present love held me, dried my tears, and carried me through. I will treasure your devotion and support forever. You are my inspiration. - Love, Michael Jackson". On November 8, 2005, Gloria Haydock (President of now defunct fanclub, MJNI) receives a rare phonecall from Michael Jackson, and this is what she posts regarding the experience on her site:
“[…] I received a phonecall that day, seemingly out of the blue, from Michael. […] From a selection of messages I’ve seen on the MJNI.COM message board, some fans don’t understand why Michael would ring me. […]. As the trial approached, we wanted to launch a campaign that would enable fans from around the world to show their support for Michael. So, on 13th November 2004, the MJNI team launched the MJNI.COM Support Michael pages. […] Our goal was to achieve at least 10,000 pledges by the end of the trial, a target which - together with the support of dozens of fan clubs from many countries around the globe - we easily achieved. […] Back in 2002, when Michael needed a platform to speak to the fans, he accepted our invitation to visit the UK and we organised our Killer Thriller party and a march through London, resulting in a 2,000-strong show of fan support! Who can forget Michael’s fifteen minute speech at Killer Thriller? It was monumental! […] During his recent visit to London, Michael received a letter from me explaining our campaign during the trial, and it was on reading this that he called to express his thanks and gratitude to us, the fans, in his words, for our “support, love and loyalty.” […]] [One day,] the phone rang...
“Hold on for Mr. Jackson...” the voice on the telephone announced. Before I could collect my thoughts, there was a male voice on the line, and I heard myself saying, “Michael?” “Nice to hear from you...” Michael replied in a warm and friendly manner, which immediately made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Michael was very gracious and complimentary about my letter and began expressing his appreciation and gratitude for the endeavours of all his supporters. He emphasised the point by saying to me, “Please understand my appreciation for everybody’s love and all the loving support... because I really appreciate it... appreciate everything... really, I do.” As Michael was speaking, I was immediately struck by his heartfelt sincerity. […] Fortunately, Michael was very fluent and did all the initial talking, which made it easy for me to join the conversation. My first response was to thank Michael sincerely for his call and express how honoured I was that he would take the time to acknowledge our work, especially as I was aware of the great demands on his time. Michael was very kind and reciprocated my sentiment. Throughout the telephone call, Michael was extremely repetitive in the proclamation of his love and appreciation to his fans for everything that they have done for him over the years; their undying love and support. […] He seemed to want to make it very clear that he is aware of our efforts on his behalf. He wanted the message to go out to all of the fans and emphasised that I should let everyone know how he felt. Later in the conversation, Michael wanted me specifically to thank the fans who came to see him recently in London. He explained how he had wanted to greet the fans personally, but that the restrictions imposed on him by the police made it difficult for him to do so. He also made special mention of the fans who had travelled to and supported him in Santa Maria [California, during his 2005 trial], and wanted me to let them know how much he appreciated their support and that he drew strength from it.
Throughout our conversation, Michael continually made reference to one main subject, which is something I have been aware of both as a fan and a Fan Club President for almost 20 years: he recognises the support and contribution from ALL his fans, be that the fan who has little opportunity to travel to the city when Michael is in town – or perhaps can’t afford concert tickets and travel when Michael is touring the world – or maybe doesn’t even have internet connection to enable messageboard discussions. But they support Michael in their hearts, follow the documentaries on television, join the fan clubs and buy his records and merchandise when it is available. Michael was saying thank you to these fans, just as much as he was reaching out to those who [are] at great personal and financial sacrifice, travelled halfway across the world to camp out in Santa Maria during the trial, so that Michael would know that he was not alone. Michael, then became very excited as he told me about a new song which he had written and which he wanted the fans to know about, saying, “I can’t wait to record it. I wrote it during the trial. You could let them know...” The song Michael was inspired to write for the fans during the trial is titled ‘You Are So Beautiful.’ I asked him to clarify for me - would this song be on the next album? And, this is a different song to the as-yet unnamed charity single? He confirmed "yes" to both questions. Then, suddenly, Michael became very playful as he excitedly spoke about MJNI’s KING! magazine. He told me how much he loved KING! and mentioned a couple of his favourite articles (in particular, one about Neverland.) […] […] He said, “I am writing constantly...” […] Recalling the time I became a fan myself during the Bad tour and the sheer enjoyment of hearing Michael perform live, and pushing the point – maybe too far – I suggested that [he could do] a handful of concerts in small venues would be fantastic and that it didn’t necessarily have to be a grand world tour. Michael accepted my comments with grace and humility – an attribute which, when describing Michael, can’t be emphasised strongly enough […]. Michael once again brought the conversation around to talking about his love for his fans, saying: “I love them and everything they do... everything. I see everything they do, I don’t miss anything. I notice and feel everything, from their letters and posters and signs and gifts...” There was a sense of urgency in Michael’s voice and by this time, I was really beginning to become aware of a feeling of frustration in Michael at his inability to convey to his tens of thousands of fans across the globe, just how much he cares for them – that he would love to be able to show to them more, his gratitude and appreciation for their years of loyal support....And with that, the conversation was at its end. With sincerity in his voice, Michael bid farewell by saying “God Bless You” several times, and then excused himself. […]” On May 27, on occasion of winning a special Legend Award for his entire career at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards in Yoyogi National Gymnasium from Tokyo, Japan, singer Michael Jackson has this to say before a live audience of 8000 screaming music fans: “First, I’d like to say thank you MTV Japan… It’s a great honor. And – I love you more. But, most of all, I’d like to say to the Japanese people, I – from the bottom of my heart – I love you very very much. I promised myself, when I came up here that I wouldn’t get emotional, because I – I think you’re (a) very sweet, generous, kind people [gets emotional] and, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you, I thank the fans around the world and the fans in Japan – I love you more [starts dancing]. But I – I thank my children, Prince, Paris and Blanket for being there for me and I love them very much. And I, I say thank you to all the people that believe in me and I believe in you and I love you very much. Thank you so so much.” Jackson’s stage appearance that night was the first one following his 2005 trial, when he was acquitted on all charges. A day later, he was asked by a local interviewer about his purpose for coming to Japan. "Why did I choose to come to Japan in particular?.. Because I love the culture, I love the people and they're always so gracious and loyal and kind and I just love what they respect, the way they're doing things... Their way of life", he answered.
On January 24, 2007, administrators Paul Akinbanjo and Patricia Brown (of now defunct fan communities, MJNO and MJJF) receive separate phone calls from Michael Jackson. Akinbanjo and Brown wrote: ”Michael is in Vegas at the moment, and wanted to let everyone know how much he appreciates, and loves you all, and wanted to say that he's working on "wonderful new things", and that a lot of things are being put into place for his new company. […] In response to a comment Paul made about how everyone loves the pizza he sends down to fans waiting outside his hotels, Michael said, "Aww, I always feel so bad, they're standing out there like that. So I say, 'Let's get everyone pizza!'" And to Trish, "Please tell the fans that I love them, and to hold on and not lose faith. I love them with all my heart." Michael thanked us for doing what we do, and stated, "Thank you for keeping the legacy alive. Thank you from me and the family!" […] Michael apologises for what happened with the MJ WMA Fan Party, but we ask that you please not ask about that at this time, as this is an issue in the process of finally being resolved.” On March 8, 2007, the pop star visits Tokyo, Japan for several fan events organized there. He first attends the “FAN Appreciation Day Party” in his honor, where a large number of fan artwork dedicated to him was displayed. He then happily appears on stage to acknowledge it: “I – I love you!...I love you. I’d like to say all the artists, all the artwork [dedicated to me] that I saw was phenomenal, by the way. All of it was excellent. […] I love you”, says Jackson, then invites the winners of the artwork contest to accompany him on stage. The artist poses for pictures there with them and other fans and especially kisses the crying first-prize winner on the cheeks and forehead. Michael Jackson also attends a Premium V.I.P. Party as a guest of honor and has this to declare when taking the stage: “[…] I love you more. Promise – promise you won’t laugh when I put these [reading glasses] on [smiles]?..” He takes a paper sheet from his pocket and proceeds to read: “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen and thank you for a wonderful wonderful meeting, I really appreciate everybody’s performance tonight and your attendance. [to a few fans in the audience saying “Thank you” to him] No, I thank you [smiles]. I just wanna thank all of you for helping to make me the biggest-selling artist in Japan. And…[…] I love you from the bottom of my heart, really. Can I take these [glasses] off? [smiles] I look like Mr. Magoo. What I just want to say [is] I love you so much… from the bottom of my heart, and God bless you [blows kisses to the audience and waves a peace sign].” On May 21, 2007, a message on behalf of Michael Jackson is posted on now defunct fan community, MJNO, via Dawn, a fan, which writes the following: “I have a message to pass on to all the fans all over the world. It comes directly from Michael through me, so please believe that it is the truth. I can’t answer questions, as I’m hardly ever online. Please, just be happy that he is thinking of you all and he loves us all sooooo much. When he was talking about how much he loves his fans, he got really emotional, because he feels like he can’t express the way he feels strongly enough and he worries that we don’t know how much he truely (sic) appreciates us and notices all our efforts. Here’s the message: ”Please, tell all the fans that I love them so so much and that I appreciate everything you all ever do for me. You are all so thoughtful and kind and sweet. Thank you so so much for everything. I love you all and I’m very excited about the future. I'm working on a lot of different projects musically and in films. There is a lot coming up in the future and I'm very excited about it all. Thank you for your loyalty and support. My fans are the reason why I live and if it wasn't for you all, I would have thrown in the towel by now. Please know how much I appreciate you all, I love you all so much. Take care. -- Love, Michael”. On October 9, 2007, the entertainer sends a new message to his fans around the world via his manager at the time, Raymone Bain, expressing, among other things, his gratitude for the gifts presented to him by fans on occasion of his birthday on August 29. The message reads: “I would like to thank you for the beautiful cards, photographs, messages, videos, and gifts, sent to me on my birthday. I was overwhelmed by your kindness. Your continued love and support means so much to me. I really love and appreciate you all… from the bottom of my heart. I’ve been really busy lately. Hopefully, you’ve all seen the results of my recent photo shoot with ‘L’Uomo Vogue’ (magazine). Soon, I’ll be sharing exciting and surprising news with you from my other efforts. Please know again, that I love and appreciate each and everyone of you, and send to you my heartfelt thanks and warm wishes. Sincerely, Michael Jackson”. On receiving the NRJ Award of Honor or the Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifetime musical achievements, on occasion of the 9th NRJ Music Awards from Cannes, France in January, 2008, the singer, who couldn’t attend the gala in person, records a special acceptance message for his French fans and NRJ from Las Vegas, Nevada, where he lived and recorded music at the time: “Hello to all my friends in France! Though I couldn’t be there in person tonight to accept this prestigious award, I’m so happy to have the chance to send this message to let all my French fans know how much your support has meant throughout the years. It’s hard to believe that 25 years ago, Quincy Jones and I embarked on an album named “Thriller.” To be able to say that “Thriller” still holds the record as the biggest selling album of all time, is just mind blowing. I have you, my fans throughout the world to thank for this achievement. Though this award tonight honours me for my lifetime achievements, there is still much more to come from Michael Jackson. On March 5, 2009, Michael Jackson addresses to fans and media during a press conference at the O2 Arena, in London, Great Britain. The singer announces that he would give a final show of performances at a series of concerts therein. “I love you so much. Thank you all. This is it.”, he says. “I just want to say these, these will be my final show performances in London. This is it, this is it and when I say “This is it”, it really means this is it because…I’ll be, I’ll be performing the songs my fans want to hear. This is it, I mean, this is, this is the final curtain call, okay? And…I’ll see you in July and… I love you. I really do. You have to know that, I love you so much, really, from the bottom of my heart. This is it and see you in July!” The repetitive sentence, “This is It” - also the title of his planned London gig, are later revealed to bare the significance that “The planet is sick. Like a fever. If we don't fix is now, it is at the point of no return. This is our last chance to fix this problem that we have. It is like a runaway train. When the time is come, this is it”, Jackson says during the display of re-created video for “Earth Song”, that would have been part of his last London performances. In 2009, at his rehearsals for what was to be the This Is It gig in London, U.K., Michael Jackson addresses the following, while the display of a renewed music video and performance for „Earth Song” unfolds: "I respect the secrets and magic of nature. That's what makes me so angry when I see these things that are happening in our world. That every second I hear the size of a football field is torn down in the Amazon. I mean, that kind of stuff really bothers me. That's why I write these kinds of songs. You know, to give some sense of awareness and awakening and hope to people. I love...I love the planet. I love trees. I have this thing for trees. And the colours and the changing of leaves. I loove it! And I respect those kinds of things. I really feel that nature is trying so hard to compensate for man's mismanagement of the planet. Cause the planet is sick. Like a fever. If we don't fix is now, it is at the point of no return. This is our last chance to fix this problem that we have. It is like a runaway train. When the time is come, this is it.
People are always saying, "Oh," they think, "They'll take care of it." "The Government'll do..." "Done with that..." "They'll..." They who?? It starts with us. It's US! Or else it'll never be done. We have four years to get it right. After that it would be irreversible. Let's take care of the planet!...”

In 1993, when Mr. Morita fell sick , Michael Jackson, bearing respect and appreciation for Sony’s co-founder, sent him a healing tape with the following instructions: „Play 3 times a day, right before awaking, before sleeping and mid day. Drift asleep with tape playing”. And the singer’s audio message went: „Mr. Morita…Mr. Morita…Mr. Morita…This is Michael Jackson speaking…This is Michael Jackson speaking. Please, get better…Please, get better now. You are our visionary. You are our teacher. You are our leader. You are our world. You’ve taught me so much. You are a very, very strong man, Mr. Morita. I believe in you. Every day, in every way, I am healing better and better. Repeat these words in your deep subconscious mind. I love you, Mr. Morita, and know that the whole world loves you and needs you, especially me. I believe in miracles, and you have the courage and determination and the will-power. I believe in you, Mr. Morita, so get better now.” Mr. Morita would play the audio tape daily, for six years to his demise in 1999. |
