In 2000, Guiness Book of World Records established him as the pop celebrity having supported the most charities, registered as 39, although he has supported at least 33 more charities, as seen through the pages of this site. "Heal the World" was a charitable organisation. It was founded in 1992. The foundation's creation was inspired by Jackson's charitable single bearing an omonimous name. Failure to file yearly accounting statements saw the charity disband in 2002, but it was rumored to have been relaunched, under new management, in 2008. The rumor has been confirmed as true, yet the reestablished Heal the World is currently being contested by means of a lawsuit filed in October, 2009 by  Michael Jackson's Estate, that questions its validity. A settlement of this case is pending.
